During the reconstruction of the “Gjergj Kastrioti” high school, very important archaeological finds were discovered both in terms of typology and the history of the development of the ancient city.

It is about a column base, wall fragments, potential wall painting fragments and marble fragments, which from the preliminary assessment coincide with typical elements of the structure of a Roman villa.

But the main find is a floral mosaic, which the underground has preserved in a fairly good condition, from the early Roman imperial period, which, in the current phase, is thought to cover an area of about 30 m2. Further research is expected to reveal other important elements of the archaeological site.

After this discovery, an open archaeological excavation will be carried out in order to fully identify this site, following which the further progress of the project and the final destination of the archaeological materials will be evaluated.
