Despite the pandemic situation, which limits the service of books to users, the National Library opens to the reader in digital ways. Through a new online site, BKSH offers over 265 thousand digitized pages: manuscripts, maps, antiques, books.

Supported by the Albanian government, thanks to the cooperation with the National Library of Albania, the National Library of Albania is coming to the jubilee year of celebrating the 100th anniversary of its creation with a new integrated library system, realized for the first time in Albania by a company Albanian.

Based on the international standards of building library systems, the system enables the integration of the KBS in the global network of professional information for the national library system.

Users of different age groups, inside or outside the country, are now offered a new, easy-to-use site, with new sections, with added fields and functionalities, accessible to anyone, from anywhere and at any time.

Through the new online system, over 265,000 pages of books, magazines, manuscripts, antiquarians are available to readers/users, Albanian and foreign researchers, students and teachers, as digitized, browseable materials with the possibility of searching in the text, and not only constituting an added value for research – scientific work.

Through the e-Albanica Digital Library, – an ever-increasing possibility of access to the national written cultural heritage and beyond, beyond the walls of the library, – browse:

  • 154 books (1873- 1944);
  • 127 collections of retrospective Albanian magazines, mainly of a cultural nature (1883-1944);
  • 123 antiquaries (1473-1800);
  • 178 manuscripts (1106-1945);
  • 78 maps (1560-1800).
