List of beneficiaries of the second Call of the National Fund for the Care of Material Cultural Heritage (Revival Bonus)

The Ministry of Culture announces the list of beneficiaries of the second Call of the National Fund for the Care of Material Cultural Heritage (Revival Bonus). After reviewing the application files, which this year were nearly twice as many as the year before, 57 beneficiaries were selected.

This year too, the Ministry of Culture opened the Call for the Restoration Bonus, an initiative of the Albanian government that aims to restore and revive cultural monuments, but also those that do not hold this status, but are found in historical and archaeological center, quarter-castle, etc.

The budget for the Revitalization Bonus is 50% larger than a year ago and the geographical map of the winning projects is wider, affecting even those areas where it had not gone in 2022, as in Elbasan, Kukës, Bulqizë, Konispol, Qeparo and Himarë, while the largest number of beneficiaries is counted in cities under the protection of UNESCO, such as Gjirokastra, Berati or cities with outstanding cultural heritage such as Kruja.

After the experience of the first year, the Revitalization Bonus turned out to be a successful formula, where the state invites the owners or users of the objects proposed for restoration and revitalization, to join together in investments in their properties to maintain and revive. The two-way benefit of this initiative is the preservation of cultural heritage, not only the unification of ensembles, but also the increase of employment and economic well-being.

A year ago there were 40 beneficiaries out of nearly 100 applicants, mainly in Gjirokastër, Berat, Krujë, Korçë, Vlorë, Shkodër.

While this year the participation in the call was much higher, reaching 173 applicants.

The National Fund for the Care of Material Cultural Heritage, since its creation in 2020, through the Revitalization Bonus, responds to the policies of the governing program, in implementation of the obligations arising from the program of the Albanian Government for the legal reform in cultural heritage, which started with the approval of law no. 27/2018 “On cultural heritage and museums”.
