DESCRIPTION OF THE CULTURAL ACTIVITY

The Gjirokastër National Folk Festival has as its main purpose the protection, promotion and popularization of the best musical, choreographic, ethnographic values created for centuries; the widest reflection of all genres of folklore and its values; the evidence of folkloric creations, with an improvisational character, games with an imitative, pantonymic and humorous character, creations related to traditional popular holidays and those with a ritual character; as well as, bringing back to attention the most ancient creations while preserving the purity of the source.
The National Folk Festival was first held in the city of Tirana in 1957 with the motto “National Festival of Song, Music and Dance”. The first National Folklore Festival of Gjirokastra took place in 1968. After this festival, the National Folklore Festival has been held regularly, every five years, in the Castle of this city, respectively in the years 1973, 1978, 1983, 1988. In 1995 FFK was took place in the Castle of the city of Berat and in 2000 FFK returned to the museum city of Gjirokastra. Also in 2004 and 2009, FFK took place in the museum city of Gjirokastra, where a total of about 1,200 artists representing all regions, Kosovo, Albanians from Macedonia and Montenegro and from the Diaspora participated. In 2015, the Festival was celebrated in Gjirokastër.
The realization of FFK is planned to take place on June 24 – July 2, 2023.
This Festival will bring on stage about 1200 artists from the country and the world during 8 nights. In the festival, all regions of the country will be represented with the best folklore groups, based on a selection by experts in the field in the preliminary stage of the realization of this Festival.

During the festival, various activities will be organized which will increase the cultural life of the city by creating a greater access to the participation of local and foreign citizens in them.

The object of this call is the realization of the services and products requested within its implementation.
