Ministry of Economy, Culture and Innovation

The Ministry of Culture announced the month of July as “Library Month”. On July 10, it will be 100 years since the decision to establish this institution. A decision taken at the Congress of Lushnje.

This month will be dedicated to the National Library, through various activities, such as exhibitions, presentations of new projects and tributes to outstanding figures of Albanian literature.

“The year 2020 should be a big celebration for the National Library. A full 100 years ago, this important institution was founded, which was born together with Tirana, the capital.

But we had to face an unusual year, which would limit the relationship of cultural institutions with the public.

But we didn’t have to lose it, so we worked hard to keep it, to find other ways of communication, through online platforms and other cooperation formulas.

On the other hand, these months of social distancing allowed us to focus on some aspects of our work, which take on even more importance in the new conditions.

For the National Library, there have been months of intensive work and I am grateful to every employee of this institution, who worked hard so that in this jubilee year, the National Library had a new integrated library system, implemented for the first time in Albania by a company Albanian, according to all European standards”, said the Minister of Culture, Elva Margariti.
